By Billy McGuigan

You’d think it’d put all out there
But I’m afraid you’re unaware
The past I’ve had
The good with bad
Sometimes life just isn’t fair

My time has had its share of tears
Constant stream of forgotten fears
A tragic loss
Tough bridge to cross
Had to find a way to forget those years

Keep your eyes wide open
My father’s dying words to me
But if they’re opened wide
What am I supposed to see?

I wish that I was always happy
The way you expect me to be
But people not there
They caused much despair
Nearly cost my sanity

I know what’s done is done
But what are we left with
In the long run?

Now you get to see the other side
The one I’ve tried so hard to hide
I’m not all smiles
I’ve passed my trials
The past and I are about to collide

Keep your eyes wide open
My father’s dying words to me
But if they’re opened wide
What am I supposed to see?

I wish that I was always happy
The way you expect me to be
But people not there
They caused much despair
Nearly cost my sanity
